Our Therapeutic Riding Volunteers and Equine Assisted Therapy volunteers work directly with the Instructor to provide assistance prior to and during the therapeutic riding lessons. The main responsibilities include participating in the lesson by leading the horse or side-walking. As a volunteer for therapeutic sessions, it is best to be able to commit to the same day and time for a full 8 week session. Even if it is only for one session on a given day and time, your dependability is essential to our program and the students. Volunteers who work on the ranch with or near the horses must be a minimum of 15 years of age.

Volunteer Riding Lessons

We offer to volunteers the opportunity to ride in a lesson at a greatly reduced fee. Volunteers are required to put in a minimum of 5 hours volunteering prior to each lesson. All volunteers who want to ride in these lessons must be able to groom, tack, and mount a horse independently. We suggest arriving at least 45 mins prior to the time of the lesson in order to properly groom and tack your horse in time for your lesson. There is a 24 cancellation policy. If you can’t be on site to cross your name off the list, please call Johnny directly and let him know in advance. Please dress to ride! That means boots with heels, long pants, hair tied back. No tennis shoes, shorts or sandals.
