Program Enrollment & Participation

Therapeutic Adaptive Riding Program Overview

Shadow Hills Riding Club offers Therapeutic Adaptive Riding Lessons through a structured program enrollment model designed to support rider safety, individualized care, animal welfare, and long-term therapeutic outcomes.

Because therapeutic riding involves live animals, specialized staff, safety protocols, and limited capacity, participation requires advance assessment and enrollment rather than drop-in scheduling.

Assessment Requirement

All riders must complete an initial assessment prior to participation and an annual assessment thereafter.

Assessments allow our instructional team to:

  • Evaluate physical, emotional, and cognitive needs

  • Match riders with appropriate therapy horses

  • Determine program suitability and safety considerations

  • Ensure continued therapeutic effectiveness as needs evolve

Assessment Fee: $250
(Billable to third-party funding sources, when applicable)

Program Enrollment Model

Ongoing participation in Therapeutic Adaptive Riding Lessons is offered through monthly program enrollment. Enrollment secures a rider’s place in the program and supports:

  • Consistent horse care and welfare

  • Qualified staffing and safety coverage

  • Facility readiness and insurance requirements

  • Individualized rider support and scheduling continuity

Enrollment is not based on individual session attendance and supports program stability even when sessions must be modified due to weather, horse welfare considerations, or safety needs.

Single Session Availability

Single Therapeutic Adaptive Riding Sessions are available for unique, occasional, or one-time participation, based on availability and program suitability.

These sessions are intended for riders who are not seeking ongoing enrollment or who require limited engagement with the program.

Capacity & Participation Guidelines

Shadow Hills Riding Club operates with limited capacity to ensure the safety and well-being of riders, horses, staff, and volunteers. Enrollment and scheduling are subject to:

  • Staff availability

  • Horse welfare considerations

  • Safety requirements

  • Program capacity limits

The program reserves the right to determine appropriate placement and participation based on these factors.
