About the event

Part 2 Horsemanship Training: THERAPEUTIC LESSON SUPPORT is available for all new and continuing volunteers new and interested in developing skills related to supporting in therapeutic riding lessons. We ask that you attend Part 1 of Horsemanship Training and Orientation prior to attending Part 2. Topics covered will include:

  • Preparing a horse for a lesson (grooming, tacking)
  • Entering the mounting block area in the arena
  • Sidewalking during a lesson
  • Horse leading during a lesson

After attending Orientation, we ask that all new volunteers attend Part 1 and 2 trainings with us at the ranch. Each training last approximately 3 hours and will be hands on experience with our horses.

Part 1: HORSEMANSHIP TRAINING - Grooming, Haltering, & Tacking (3 hours) This training is required for all new volunteers. Please attend orientation prior to any trainings.

Part 2: THERAPEUTIC LESSON TRAINING - Grooming/Tacking for a lesson, Leading a horse in a lesson, Sidewalking in a lesson (3 hours) Part 1 is a prerequisite for this training and must be completed prior to this training.

Part 3: HORSE CARE TRAINING -for those interested in supporting with horse care (2.5 hours) Part 1 & 2 are prerequisites for this training and must be completed prior to this training.
