About the event
Part 3 Horsemanship Training: HORSE CARE TRAINING is available for all new and continuing volunteers to hone skills related to supporting with horse care. We ask that new volunteers attend Part 1 of Horsemanship Training and Orientation prior to attending Part 3. Topics covered will include:
- Safely walking/leading a horse
- Turning out a horse safely in a corral
- How to log information on horse care chart
- Specific facts related to horses in program to better understand individual needs
After attending Orientation*, we ask that all new volunteers attend at least two trainings with us at the ranch. Each training last approximately 2-3 hours and will be hands on experience with our horses. Part 1: HORSEMANSHIP TRAINING - Grooming, Haltering, & Tacking (2 hours) This training is required for all new volunteers. Please attend orientation prior to any trainings. Part 2: THERAPEUTIC LESSON TRAINING - Grooming/Tacking for a lesson, Leading a horse in a lesson, Sidewalking in a lesson (2.5 hours) Part 1 is a prerequisite for this training and must be completed prior to this training. Part 3: HORSE CARE TRAINING -for those interested in supporting with horse care (2 hours) Part 1 is a prerequisite for this training and must be completed prior to this training.
